US PL&Rs' FAQs

The US Postal Laws and Regulations.

The US Postal Laws and Regulations (PL&Rs) are periodic publications produced from 1794 to 1948 that contained the laws and regulations that governed the US Post Office Department.

There are three possible techniques for searching the content of the PL&Rs: topic search, search by a word or phrase, or a combination of both.

A topic search occurs when a topic or multiple topics are ticked in Section 1, one or more PL&R volumes (denoted by the years published) are chosen in Section 3, and the search button in Section 4 is clicked.

A word or phrase search results when a word or phrase is placed in the space provided in Section 2, one or more PL&R volumes (denoted by the years published) are chosen in Section 3, and the search button in Section 4 is clicked. Please note that additional types of keyword searches are hidden under "show additional keyword criteria."

A combination search occurs when a topic or multiple topics are chosen in Section 1, a word or phrase is entered in Section 2, one or more PL&R volumes (denoted by the years published) are chosen in Section 3, and the search button in Section 4 is clicked.

Please note that depending on which topics are chosen, this type of search may result in no results.

All the search results appear below Section 1 with the option of clicking the link to the individual result or the complete PL&R that the result is derived from. If the results don't appear below Section 1, this is a Browser issue, and you will have to scroll down below Section 1 to find the results.
